Welcome

Xavier Zubiri Foundation, a private research centre created in 1989 to safeguard the intellectual legacy of the Spanish philosopher Xavier Zubiri. The centre carries out research, teaching and dissemination, always in connection with the Spanish and international academic world. The Foundation brings together professionals, academics, researchers and students specializing not only in philosophy but also in the medical, physical, biological and human sciences in general.

Working Lines

Research. The FXZ is characterized by generating high academic research activities. It produces innovative research, both in the reinterpretation of Zubiri's thought and in the generation of original thought. The most important activity is our Xavier Zubiri Research Seminar, created by Zubiri himself in 1971. Learn about our current research activities.

Teaching. We also offer both face-to-face and distance learning courses and seminars throughout the year, covering a wide range of subjects from metaphysics, through the philosophy of religion and socio-politics, to bioethics. Learn about our current offer.

Publication. Since 1989, thanks to the research team and university professors convened by Diego Graciaour academic director, have been published around 30 books of Xavier Zubiri. These works, in order to ensure a wide national and international dissemination, have been co-published between Alianza Editorial and XZF. In addition, the Foundation has supported translations of the works into English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Russian.

Courses and seminars

The XZF offers both face-to-face and distance learning courses and seminars throughout the year, covering a wide range of subjects from metaphysics, through the philosophy of religion, science and socio-politics, to bioethics. The following is a list of the current offerings:

Important, COVID-19: For the classroom courses, most of which start in February 2021, the recommended hygiene and social distance will be respected. Likewise, and for the convenience and safety of the user, the sessions of these classroom courses will be recorded on audiovisual and one day after each one will be uploaded to the Virtual Campus of the XZF. Only the students registered in each course will have access to these classrooms. In case of confinement, the classroom courses will be changed entirely to onlinewhich will consist of a hybrid of face-to-face sessions retransmitted in audiovisual format and complemented by streaming sessions (live and in real time) so that students and teacher can interact in real time giving the possibility for the necessary discussions.
